Facelign Android privacy policy

Who this policy covers

This privacy policy applies to the Facelign Android application, package name com.facelign.android, published by Facelign developer. Facelign is maintained by an independent developer. For privacy questions, email hellofacelign@gmail.com.

This policy applies only to the Android app. The Facelign website uses a separate, server-based correction service covered by the Facelign website privacy policy.

Summary

The Facelign Android app:

• processes photos on your device and does not upload them;
• does not request Android’s internet, camera, or location permissions;
• does not require or create an account;
• does not contain advertising, analytics, or remote crash reporting;
• does not sell personal data or share it with the developer; and
• does not use photos for training, face recognition, advertising, or identification.

Photos and photo-library information

Facelign requests access to images in your device’s media library so it can show its photo gallery and let you choose photos to correct. Depending on your Android version and the permission you grant, the app may have access to all images in the device media library or only images you select. You can change or revoke this access in Android Settings.

For photos available to the app, Facelign may read:

• the image itself;
• its filename and media-library folder;
• capture date, dimensions, and file format; and
• embedded metadata such as orientation, camera and lens information, and GPS location metadata.

This information is used only to display, correct, and save photos on your device. Facelign does not request access to your camera and does not take photographs.

Images shared with Facelign

You can send an image to Facelign through Android’s Share menu. The app makes a private local working copy because access granted by the sending application may be temporary. That copy is used only for the correction session and is deleted when the session ends or it is otherwise no longer needed.

Camera characteristics

If “Use this device camera info if FOV is missing” is enabled, Facelign may read non-image camera hardware characteristics supplied by Android. They are used locally to estimate the field of view when a photo lacks suitable focal-length metadata. The app does not activate the camera or capture an image through this feature.

Face processing

Facelign uses an on-device face detector to locate faces and apply geometric perspective correction. It does not identify people, compare identities, infer personal characteristics, or create persistent face templates. Detected face positions exist only as part of local correction processing.

Storage, retention, and deletion

Facelign does not store photos or other user data on developer-operated servers. Original photos selected from your library are read in place and are not modified or deleted.

During correction, the app may create temporary working files in its private Android storage. They are deleted when they are no longer required. Facelign disables Android backup for its private app data.

When you choose to save a result, Facelign creates a new JPEG in your media library and leaves the original unchanged. The saved image remains until you delete it using a gallery app, a file manager, or Android’s storage controls.

App preferences, such as theme and correction settings, remain locally until you reset the app, clear its storage, or uninstall it. Clearing Facelign’s app storage or uninstalling the app removes its private local data. Saved corrected photos must be deleted separately from your media library. Because Facelign has no accounts and does not retain user data on developer-operated servers, there is no remote account or server-side personal data to delete.

Photo metadata

Corrected JPEG files may preserve metadata from the original, including capture date, camera and lens information, and GPS location metadata. Facelign does not use this metadata to track you. If you share a corrected photo, its preserved metadata may be included in the file and the recipient’s privacy practices apply.

Sharing

Facelign does not automatically send photos or personal data to the developer or any third party. If you deliberately use Android’s Share feature to send an image to another app or service, Android transfers it to the destination you select. Facelign does not control how that recipient subsequently handles the image or its metadata.

Security

Photo processing takes place locally within the app’s Android sandbox. Media-library access is controlled by Android permissions, and the app does not request internet access. Facelign minimizes privacy risk by avoiding accounts, network photo transfers, advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, remote crash reporting, and remote storage.

Google Play purchases

Purchases and downloads are handled by Google Play under Google’s own terms and privacy policy. Facelign does not receive or process your payment-card information within the app.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated if the app’s functionality or data-handling practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision.
