Processing flow

When you correct a photo your browser sends the selected image to Facelign’s private storage on Amazon Web Services. The service reads it to find faces and apply geometric perspective correction. Face detection locates faces in the picture; it does not identify the people in them.

The original is deleted after processing reaches a final result. The corrected image, and an original preview when one is needed for comparison, remain available through private signed links for about ten minutes.

How long files remain

• Upload links and result links expire after about ten minutes.
• Uploaded and generated image objects have a one-day automatic deletion rule as a safety net.

There are no public galleries, permanent photo links, or searchable filenames.

What we keep

Facelign keeps aggregate service measurements such as the number of admitted jobs, outcomes, image sizes, processing time, and face count. Short-lived job records use random identifiers and do not retain your filename or the secret job token.

Sanitized operational logs are kept for 14 days. They contain stable result or error categories and technical measurements, not photos, filenames, complete requests, job capabilities, or signed result links.

Metadata in your photo

Photos can contain camera, date, and location metadata. Facelign processes embedded metadata as part of the file and preserves EXIF and colour-profile information in corrected JPEGs when the output format supports it. We do not use that metadata to track you.

Accounts, cookies, and analytics

The public correction flow has no account, advertising, behavioural analytics, or tracking cookies. Facelign does not build a profile of the people shown in a photo and does not retain photos for debugging or promotion unless a separate, clearly explained opt-in is offered.

Infrastructure and encryption

Processing and primary storage run on Amazon Web Services in Ireland. Private results are delivered through Amazon CloudFront, which uses a global network of edge locations. AWS necessarily handles technical network information, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the service. Facelign does not add IP addresses to its application job records.

Connections use HTTPS and stored objects use AWS encryption at rest. This is not end-to-end encryption: Facelign must be able to read the image while correcting and delivering it. Browser-held photo encryption is planned as a later security improvement, after the initial service is stable.

Changes to this page

If the service begins collecting new information or using photos for a new purpose, this page will be updated before that change is introduced. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
