Facelign iOS privacy policy

Facelign processes photos locally on your iPhone or iPad. The app does not collect any data: it does not upload your photos, require an account, show advertising, or use analytics or remote crash reporting.

Who this policy covers

This privacy policy applies to the Facelign app for iPhone and iPad, bundle identifier com.facelign.ios, published on the App Store by an independent developer. For privacy questions, email hellofacelign@gmail.com.

This policy applies only to the iOS app. The Android app and the Facelign website, which uses a server based correction service, have their own policies.

Summary

The Facelign iOS app:

  • processes photos on your device and does not upload them;
  • cannot see your photo library: it receives only the photo you choose in the system photo picker, and asks only for permission to add the corrected copy;
  • does not use the camera or your device’s location;
  • does not require or create an account;
  • does not contain advertising, analytics, tracking, or remote crash reporting;
  • does not sell or share personal data, and sends none to the developer; and
  • does not use photos for training, face recognition, advertising, or identification.

Photos and Photo Library access

You choose photos in Apple’s system photo picker, which runs outside the app. Facelign receives only the photo you tap and never has access to the rest of your library, so it does not ask for permission to read your photos. If the original is stored in iCloud, iOS downloads it for you; Facelign does not connect to iCloud itself.

For the chosen photo, Facelign reads:

  • the image itself, including its HDR data;
  • its filename, capture date, dimensions, and file format; and
  • embedded metadata such as orientation, camera and lens information, and GPS location metadata.

When you tap Save, iOS asks whether Facelign may add photos to your library. This add only permission lets the app save the corrected copy; it cannot read, change, or delete your other photos. You can change it at any time in Settings, Facelign, Photos.

Face processing

Facelign uses an on device face detector to locate faces and apply geometric perspective correction. It does not identify people, compare identities, infer personal characteristics, or create persistent face templates. Detected face positions exist only as part of local correction processing.

Storage, retention, and deletion

Facelign does not store photos or other user data on developer operated servers. Your original photo is never modified.

While you review a photo, the app keeps a private working copy and the corrected result in its own storage on the device, excluded from iCloud and device backups. They are deleted when you leave the photo, or the next time the app starts if it was closed before that.

When you choose to save, Facelign adds a new corrected copy to your photo library. It stays there until you delete it in the Photos app. App settings, such as Debug mode, remain on the device until you delete the app, which removes all of its private data. Because Facelign has no accounts and keeps no data on servers, there is no remote data to delete.

Photo metadata

The corrected copy keeps metadata from the original, including capture date, camera and lens information, and GPS location metadata, so it sorts and appears on the map like the original. Facelign does not use this metadata to track you. If you share a corrected photo, its metadata may be included in the file and the recipient’s privacy practices apply.

Sharing

Facelign does not automatically send photos or personal data to the developer or any third party. If you use the Share button, iOS sends the saved corrected copy to the app or service you select. Facelign does not control how that recipient handles the image or its metadata.

Diagnostics

Facelign contains no analytics or crash reporting code. If you have turned on Share with App Developers in Settings, Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymous crash and performance reports with the developer under Apple’s privacy policy. If you test a beta version through TestFlight, Apple shares the feedback, screenshots, and crash reports you choose to send, along with the details TestFlight provides, such as your device model and iOS version.

Security

Photo processing takes place locally within the app’s iOS sandbox, and photo library access is controlled by iOS. The app contains no networking code of its own. Facelign minimizes privacy risk by avoiding accounts, network photo transfers, advertising, analytics, remote crash reporting, and remote storage.

App Store purchases

Downloads and the optional lifetime unlock are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. The app asks Apple’s StoreKit on your device whether the unlock is active. Facelign never receives your Apple Account details or payment information.

Children

Facelign is a general audience app. It collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

Your choices

You can revoke photo access in Settings, Facelign, Photos, and remove all of the app’s local data by deleting the app. Because the developer holds no personal data about you, there is nothing to access, export, or delete on request, but you are welcome to ask any privacy question by email.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated if the app’s functionality or data handling practices change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision.
